Download the ion 0.5 demo package, and unzip it in a directory (without space in the name. ex c:\ion). Click start.bat to launch the graphical launcher. Then use the start/stop button to start the content server. Follow links displayed in the graphical launcher to visit ion applications.

If you have any problem with the graphical launcher, you can try to launch directly the tomcat server with the tomcat/bin/startup.bat script.
